“A child and a wanderer” of Gen. Anders. An outstanding breeder of racehorses and sports horses. A rider and a horse expert. Since 1959, he worked at Ochaby Stud Farm and then at Stubno Stud Farm and Walewice Stud Farm. A participant of races in Warsaw, Sopot and Pardubice.

Eng. LECH STRZAŁKOWSKI devoted all his life to work with horses.

He was born on 17 March 1923 in Kamień Koszyrski within the family of a teacher Antoni Strzałkowski and Jadwiga Wolska from home. He stayed with his family at Polesia until February 1940 when soviet authorities taken Strzałkowski’s family away to northern Kazakhstan. In 1941, they got through Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan and then, in 1942, together with Polish Army organized in USSR under Gen. Władysław Anders’s command, through Caspian Sea to Teheran in Iran. In 1943, Polish civil families were transported to India, to a camp for Polish refugees. Over there, Lech Strzałkowski stayed until 1947 (Karachi, Kalhapur). In June 1947, he returned to Poland, to Warsaw. In 1951, Lech Strzałkowski finished his education at the high school named after Adam Mickiewicz in Warsaw and passed his high school finals while obtaining General Certificate of Education. In the same year, he started studying at the Zootechnic Faculty of Main School of Farming in Warsaw where he graduated as a livestock specialist engineer on 25 March 1955.

Since 01 February 1955, after he received a work order (by medium of inspector Bolesław Orłoś), he started working at Państwowe Tory Wyścigów Konnych (Jockey Club) in Warsaw, then in Wrocław and again in Warsaw. He used to work there until 01 October 1959.

On 01 October 1959, he started working at National Studs as follows: Within 1959-1961 at Pruchna-Ochaby National Stud (French Anglo-Arabs), 1961-1963 Trzebienice-Udórz National Stud (horses of Little-Poland type), 1963-1969 Stubno National Stud (Furioso-Przedświt type), 1969-1980 Pruchna-Ochaby National Stud, 1980-1982 Walewice National Stud (Anglo-Arabs), 1982-2006 Stubno National Stud (English Thoroughbred) that was privatized on 29 April 2003.
